The Reading Hospital is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Trauma Department. Come join our collaborative team consisting of advanced practice providers (APPs) and surgeons in the care of trauma patients, surgical critical care patients, and acute care surgery patients at the only Level 1 trauma center in Berks County, Pennsylvania.

The advanced practice provider will function as a clinical expert in the care of the trauma patient from resuscitation through outpatient follow up. With responsibility in the trauma bay, intensive care unit, medical- surgical floor, and ambulatory clinic, they work collaboratively with multidisciplinary health professionals in coordinating and delivering patient care. The APP needs to be highly trained with a robust medical knowledge as well as technical skill in bedside procedures.

In addition to the trauma population, the APP will assist with acute care surgery patients. They will have the responsibility of perioperative management of this patient population. From critical care to outpatient follow up, the APP will provide services and care to acute care surgery and emergency surgery patients.

Lastly, the APP will evaluate and manage critically ill surgical and neurological patients. Medical knowledge on these specialized populations as well as procedural knowledge is required to perform this aspect of the job.

BLS and ACLS must be current.
