Yale New Haven Health is excited to announce an opportunity for a Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) within our esteemed Surgery Department. This role offers significant operative responsibility and a chance to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment. We are seeking candidates with OR first-assisting experience, and prior cardiology experience is a valuable plus.Position Details
Coverage: Bridgeport and Milford Hospitals, as well as Park Avenue Medical Center
Availability: Minimum of 2 shifts per month, with flexible scheduling options
Shift: 8-hour shifts per week, with slight variations at Bridgeport and Milford Hospitals (rotational basis: 1 week every 4 weeks)
Staffing: 20 Surgeons and 4 APP staff
Weekend Coverage: Occasional evening and weekend call at Milford Hospital
Case Load:
100% Adults
1-5 OR cases per day
1-3 inpatients to round on
1-5 inpatient consults
Bed Count: Bridgeport Hospital has 425 beds

Job Responsibilities
Patient Care: Perform assessments, prepare patients for surgery, and oversee recovery.
Critical Care: Manage ventilators, artificial cardiac devices, and critically ill patients.
Medication Management: Administer and monitor medications, including vasoactive drugs.
Education & Collaboration: Educate patients and families, while working closely with the surgical team.
Qualifications
License: Active Connecticut PA or NP Certification
Certification Requirements: Active PA Certification, BLS, ACLS, and DEA

Medical Knowledge: Expertise in cardiac and thoracic physiology, diagnostic procedures, surgical techniques, ventilator management, and critical care.
Clinical Skills: Proficient in patient assessment, treatment planning, medication management, and patient education.
