Our client, a nationally renowned academic medical center and integrated healthcare delivery system, is currently hiring a Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Thoracic Surgery team in a non-OR role. This position focuses on inpatient and outpatient thoracic patient care, procedural management, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. New graduates with a strong interest in thoracic surgery are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient evaluations, history & physical exams, and follow-up visits
  • Manage pre- and post-operative patient care for thoracic surgery patients
  • Perform procedures including:
  • Chest tube management and removal
  • Thoracentesis
  • Wound care and dressing changes
  • Suture/staple removal
  • Drain and catheter management
  • Pleural catheter placement and management
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound), and labs Educate patients and families on thoracic conditions, treatment plans, and recovery expectations Collaborate with thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, and other specialists to coordinate patient care Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and inpatient rounds

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Certified (PA-C) and licensed (or eligible) in New York
  • New graduates with a strong interest in thoracic surgery are welcome to apply
  • Strong clinical skills, procedural competency, and a passion for thoracic medicine
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment and collaborate with a team
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
