We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant with experience in Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic Surgery to join a dynamic team at a leading health facility in Tyler, Texas. This ongoing locum tenens opportunity offers a rewarding role within a high-acuity setting, managing critical cardiac and thoracic patients. Ideal candidates will have experience in managing pre- and post-surgical care for cardiac surgery patients, including ICU rounding and ventilator management. Job Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive care for cardiovascular and thoracic patients, including ICU rounds, pre- and post-operative care.
Manage patients coming out of the OR, specifically those with open-heart surgeries, VATS, and lung cases.
Oversee patients transitioning off ventilators, ensuring safe and effective care.
Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team and utilize Epic for all documentation.
Maintain a caseload of approximately 20-25 patients per day, with support from an additional Advanced Practice Provider (APP).

Current Texas state license as a Physician Assistant.
Certification in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery or a related specialty.
Ability to manage complex surgical cases and effectively operate within a high-volume setting.
Must be proficient with Epic EMR or willing to undergo training.

Qualifications

Previous locum tenens experience is preferred but not required.

Working Hours

Schedule: 7a-7p, 7 days per week, including ICU rounding, with support staff and collaborative assistance from other Advanced Practice Providers.
Setting: Combination of inpatient and outpatient care with both scheduled clinic hours and call duties.
Holidays: Coverage is needed for select holidays, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
