Primary Location: Villanova, PA. with rotation to Center City Office 1-2 times per week.
The Team Lead Physician Assistant (PA), under the sponsorship of a board-certified physician and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary health team, is responsible for the oversight of the provision of comprehensive care to patients at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health, Jefferson Health. The Lead PA functions in an expanded role within the guidelines of State Licensing, Medical Staff Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with clinical protocols. The Lead PA is granted privileges by the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital medical staff, which list specific clinical protocols and procedures and are reviewed bi-annually.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Administrative:
- Coordinates day to day work environment of designated employees. Works closely with the VP of Integrative Medicine to manage scheduling, including ETO approval, for various clinical team members.
- Assists department leaders to manage personnel activities to include position control, recruitment and selection, onboarding/orientation (including Medical Staff credentialing, and payor enrollment orientation), Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE and FPPE).
- Partners with department leaders to support Advanced Practice Provider competency assessment, including annual and ongoing performance evaluations, staff development, and retention processes.
- Ensures Advanced Practice Providers practice within the scope of their license and education, as defined by their governing bodies.
- Serves as the expert resource regarding Advanced Practice Provider licensure, collaborative practice, credentialing, scope of practice and regulatory compliance.
- Assists department leaders with strategic and operational plans for the clinical practice at the Marcus Institute. Communicates and continuously evaluates plans.
- Provides clinical supervision and oversight to various team members, including nursing and medical assistants
- Insures efficiencies across all non-physician clinical schedules
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Patient Care:
- Provide direct patient care at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health
- Continuously expands knowledge of services and procedures provided by the department
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Supports and assists the VP of Integrative Medicine, Medical Director, and Department Chair to ensure the efficient and effective provision of services to patients across all clinical programs at the Marcus Institute
- Functions as a clinical supervisor for the Marcus Institute clinical team.
- Ensures that APPs receive adequate training and orientation and maintain necessary certifications, licensure and training.
- Current PA Physician Assistant license
- ACLS and BLS
- 3+ Years of experience as a Physician Assistant is required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Knowledge of hospital ancillary department functions generally acquired through previous education and/or experience.
Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson’s clinical entities or at the University.
