Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with expertise in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgery for a locum tenens assignment. This opportunity is available at a leading medical center in central Pennsylvania, with a focus on delivering advanced surgical care. The position offers a dynamic blend of operating room responsibilities, patient care in the ICU, and collaborative work with a top-tier cardiovascular team.
Job Responsibilities
Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and provide comprehensive perioperative care.
Participate in regular shifts (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday) with weekend call approximately every 2–3 weekends.
Provide on-call coverage (home-based) from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM on weekdays, and from Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM on designated weekends.
Support patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) and assist in managing post-operative recovery.
Collaborate with physicians, surgical teams, and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Utilize Cerner EMR for documentation and patient management.
Qualifications
Certification in cardiovascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, or a related specialty.
Proficiency in OR First Assist techniques and endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH).
Minimum of two years’ experience in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgery preferred.
Strong knowledge of surgical equipment, including Marquet systems.
Exceptional clinical judgment and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Prior experience with Cerner EMR.
A history of managing both inpatient (ICU) and outpatient care in cardiovascular surgery settings.
Working Hours
Setting: Combination of operating room and ICU, with a focus on hands-on surgical and post-operative care.
Location: Hershey or Camp Hill, PA, easily accessible via Harrisburg International Airport.
This is a full-time locum tenens position, requiring consistent availability. PRN or part-time coverage is not considered.
All calls are home-based, not in-house.
