Our client, a hospital located in New Mexico, is looking for a locum Nurse Practitioner specializing in Neurological Surgery for a 168-day assignment beginning in May 2025, with potential for extension. The role involves night shifts (5 PM to 5 AM) on a 7-on/7-off or 14-on/14-off schedule. Responsibilities include managing adult and pediatric neurosurgical cases, responding to trauma calls, post-operative care, and nighttime management of subacute trauma patients. The PA will work with both adult and pediatric neurosurgery teams and use Powerchart EMR. Job Details:
- Night shift: 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM
- Rotation: 7 days on/7 days off or 14 days on/14 days off
Responsibilities:
- Assessing and coordinating care for head traumas and chronic cerebral anomalies
- Managing spine trauma and chronic conditions (alternating weeks)
- Responding to trauma calls involving potential brain or spinal trauma
- Post-operative monitoring and management of neurosurgical patients
- Managing neurosurgical devices (EVD, Irraflow, Lumbar drains, etc.)
- Nighttime medical management of subacute trauma team
- Emergent management of declining patients pending ICU transfer
- Collaboration with 3 adult and 2 pediatric neurosurgery attendings
Requirements:
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner with specialization in Neurological Surgery
- Active New Mexico NP license or ability to obtain one
- Comfort with both adult and pediatric neurosurgical cases
- Proficiency in Powerchart EMR system
