Orthopedic Trauma Surgical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Orthopedic Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Chandler, Arizona. You will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive acute care to patients with orthopedic conditions, including but not limited to the following.

Responsibilities

• provide comprehensive acute care to patients with orthopedic conditions, including but not limited to the following:
• Assist with the surgical management of acute orthopedic patients, including pre- and post-operative care
• First assist in Orthopedic surgeries
• Round on our inpatients, contributing to the provision of high quality and coordinated care
• Consult on ER patients, providing diagnosis, appropriate plans of care and referrals as appropriate
• Order, interpret and analyze diagnostic tests
• Prescribe and administer medications and physical therapy as necessary
• Splint, cast and brace injuries as indicated; perform wound closures and dressing changes
• Primary point of contact and assumes responsibilities for managing the care for patients.
• Takes 1st call - after hours and weekends included for all patients on service (ICU/Floor/Tele and after hours for answering service for clinic patients).
• Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement for patient care.
• Works within a multidisciplinary team.
• Additional duties as assigned by clinical or operational leadership.

Qualifications

PA Requirements:

• Degree as a Physician Assistant
• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Background in pre-med preferred
• Minimum 3 years orthopedic PA experience, preferably in an acute setting.
• Must hold and maintain: a.) AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants License, b.) NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant.
• Valid DEA registration.
• Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff

NP Requirements:

• Master's Degree in nursing. Graduate of accredited program for nurse practitioners
• Compact state or Arizona RN license
• Arizona Advanced Practice Nurse license
• Surgical First Assist certification
• Minimum of 3 years orthopedic NP experience, preferably in an acute setting.
• Must hold and maintain National Certificate as a nurse practitioner in area of specialty under AZ regulations: a.) NP-AACN, b.) NP-AANP, c.) NP-ANCC, or d). NP-PNCB
• Valid DEA registration
• Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
