Position: Cardiothoracic Surgery Provider

Contract Duration: September 2024 - January 2025

Schedule:

• Coverage Needed: 10 days per month
• Shifts: Flexible; typically 4 days per month, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, plus on-call from 3:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Orientation: One day required for orientation

Work Details:

• Support Staff: Surgeon
• Patient Load:
  • Daily: 10-15 CVICU/step-down patients
  • Surgeries: 1-2 per day
• Patient Population/Age: Adult/Geriatric
• Department Description: Cardiothoracic Surgery (CT Surgery)
• EMR System: Cerner
• Hospital Bed Size: 199
• Special Procedures: Temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, IABP removal, Aline placement
• Skills Required: Recent experience in cardiothoracic surgery, proficient with Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)

Practice Setting: Hospital

Requirements:

• Board Certification:
  • Physician Assistant (PA): Certified or certification-eligible by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP): Graduate from an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program and completion of an RN/NP First Assistant Program
  • License Required:
    • PA: Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant in Arizona
    • NP: Current unrestricted Arizona APRN license
  • DEA Registration: Yes

• Certifications:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - Required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
  • PA: Certification by the NCCPA
  • NP: Medical Surgical or NP ANCC or AANP Certification
• Minimum Experience: 3 years in cardiothoracic surgery with EVH

Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 30 days
