Seeking Nurse Practitioner to join Pulmonary / Sleep Medicine team in Myrtle Beach, SC area due to growing area demand, supporting senior physician. Pulmonary/Sleep or endoscopy unit experience preferred. The APP will collaborate with pulmonologists to diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic respiratory diseases, focusing on patient-centered care and improving overall lung health.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Primarily outpatient care with opportunities to support inpatient consultations.
  • Standard office hours (Mon-Thurs: 8am-5pm, Friday: 8am-12pm)
  • 36 patient contact hours / 4 admin hours
  • Call Schedule: Rotate call responsibilities with all providers on a 1:5 rotation.
  • Support Staff: The APP will have access to a dedicated nurse and work closely with the pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, radiologists, and other specialists.

PATIENT VOLUME & CENSUS:

  • Average Patient Volume: 18-25 patients per day
  • Patient Demographics: Primarily adult and geriatric patients with common cases such as COPD, asthma, sleep apnea, lung disease, and other pulmonary conditions.
  • Common Conditions Treated: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma and reactive airway diseases, pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial lung disease, obstructive sleep apnea and other sleep disorders, lung infections and pneumonia,
  • Pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension get referred to MUSC (we don’t have the equipment to treat these conditions).

VISIT TYPES AND PROCEDURES:

  • Visit types: Follow-ups for chronic conditions, initial consultations for new respiratory symptoms, lung health screenings, and post-hospital discharge visits.
  • Procedures: Pulmonary function tests (PFTs), oxygen therapy evaluations, management of respiratory devices (e.g., CPAP, BiPAP), medication adjustments and education.
