Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Salary Range $140,000 - $160,000 annually + benefits

Potential for Hybrid

Requirements to apply:

  • Master of Science in Nursing required, Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current MA RN/NP license, BLS certification, DEA license and MCSR license.
  • Two years of experience prescribing psychotropic medication to adult psychiatric patients with license, addiction treatment in an outpatient setting and prescribing and treating patients with SUD.

Preferences:

· Bilingual a plus, Vietnamese desired.

· Experience prescribing psychotropic medications to youth under 18 years of age.

· One year of experience working in a community health center setting.

· Experience with grant reporting and compliance.

· Basic to Intermediate level of experience with Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams and familiarity with using Electronic Medical Record (EMR), EPIC/OCHIN.


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with expertise in prescribing psychotropic medication and addiction treatment in an outpatient setting. Join our Dorchester, MA team!

Job Overview

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner collaborates with the Behavioral Health Director and Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric services, including direct care for patients with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and dual diagnoses. Responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and treating psychiatric conditions, prescribing and maintaining psychotropic medications, and developing treatment plans in collaboration with the care team. The NP takes a leadership role in case conferences, in-service staff training, and utilization review committees while offering psychiatric consultation to primary care providers. Additional duties involve mentoring Behavioral Health interns and staff, completing timely documentation, and actively engaging with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and patient care teams.

This role includes up to 32 clinical hours weekly, with at least 8 hours reserved for administrative tasks, meetings, or projects. Patient visits typically include 60-minute psychiatric evaluations and 20-minute medication management sessions, with adjustments as needed. New hires work fully onsite for six months, with potential for a hybrid schedule starting in month seven. Hybrid schedules are determined by training completion and space availability.
