Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Location: Outside of the Sparta IL area.

Compensation: malpractice, W2 with 5 PTO days per year.

Available Shifts/Options: Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm

Facility Type: Secure Inpatient Mental Health Facility

Average Caseload: 28 patients per week

Total Beds/Units: 300 beds, 280 inpatient population average - mostly forensic, one civil unit

Duties may include, but are not limited to-

  • Documentation of reasons for medication changes.
  • Monthly progress notes on patients describing changes in in mental status, behavior and psychopharmacotherapy.
  • Fitness Status (90 days).
  • Progress during facility stay to justify transfer to less secure facility.
  • Review of seclusion and restraints at least twice a month.
  • Provide relevant, thorough, and timely psychiatric evaluations within 24 hours of patient admission to the facility, 90 day report, fitness reports, NGRI reports before they come due.
  • Perform unit psychiatric evaluations within one week (when patient is transferred from another unit)
  • Testify in court regarding involuntary commitment, fitness to proceed, involuntary administration of medications and other issues (as required)
  • Meet at least monthly with patients to review their medication, explain reasons for the choice of medications and establish a treatment plan taking their concerns into consideration.
  • Maintain awareness of the Department and Facility rules, policies and procedures as required.


Requirements:

  • Current Illinois Nursing license (RN)
  • Current NP (PMH) Illinois Licensure
  • Current Illinois Controlled Substance certificate.
  • Current DEA certificate
  • Experience working with psychiatric patients - Forensic, corrections experience a plus.
