IU Health is seeking a Supplemental Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our Virtual Care Behavioral Health team!

This position provides virtual consults to 15+ emergency departments, inpatient units, and primary care offices throughout the state of Indiana.

Position Details:

  • Supplemental, as needed
    • Days and Nights
    • 1 - 12-hour shift per pay period required (Day or Night); 1 Holiday; and 1 hard to staff day/year
  • Expected patient volume: 50/week
  • 80% inpatient work, 20% outpatient work
  • Team includes 3 physicians and 6 advanced practice providers
  • Ability to work remotely from home

Qualifications:

  • PMHNP-BC or PA with psychiatric certification and strong psychiatric background required
  • At least one year of psychiatric APP experience required

Job Description/Key Responsibilities:

  • This position provides virtual consults to 15+ emergency departments, a dozen inpatient units, Urgent Care Centers, and primary care offices throughout the state of Indiana.
  • Patients range in age from young children to geriatric populations.
  • Primary focus will be crisis assessment, including dispositioning patients presenting for suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, suicide attempts, acute psychosis, and substance abuse treatment. Medication management, medication and treatment recommendations, capacity evaluations, and triage are also significant components of this position.
  • The ideal candidate must feel comfortable working independently and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of social workers, nurses and other care team members.
  • The psychiatric APP will be responsible for not only their clinical load, but also staffing clinical cases with non-provider team members.
