Adelphi is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide medical services at a clinic in Broome County, New York. The ideal candidate will have experience in serving patients with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities:
• Provide on-site psychiatric care and consultative services for individuals with developmental disabilities, considering telehealth when appropriate.
• Evaluate patients and offer psychiatric treatment recommendations.
• Conduct psychiatric assessments based on observations, interactions, and reports from various sources.
• Identify and assess the presence or absence of DSM recognized disorders such as delusional disorders, character disorders, obsessive disorders, etc.
• Ensure evaluations and assessments are clear, concise, and comprehensive.
• Collaborate with medical personnel and interdisciplinary teams to develop treatment plans and provide case management.
• Document all encounters, evaluations, consultations, and assessments in the individual's clinical record.
• Enter clinically relevant findings and treatment recommendations into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Provide electronic prescriptions for psychotropic drugs when the individual's primary care physician cannot.
• Offer crisis intervention and monitor the effects of prescribed psychotropic medications.
• Maintain psychiatric progress notes, including medication changes and adverse reactions.
• Assist in writing and filing formulary determinations, prior authorizations, and coverage authorizations with patients' insurance plans upon clinic request.
• Mediate admissions of patients to psychiatric inpatient units when necessary.
• Review prospective patient transfers from the New York State Office of Mental Health.
• Provide in-service programs to educate staff and attend required training, granting the clinic a license to use related documentation.
