Job Description
Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP)
Start Date: November 4, 2024 (ASAP, pending credentialing; 60-90 days)
Contract Length: 6 months
Shift Details:
- Hours: 12-hour shifts
- PICU: Signout at 6:15 AM/PM
- TCUP: Signout at 6:30 AM/PM
- Lunch Break: 30 minutes self-determined unpaid lunch break per shift
Schedule:
- Coverage Required: 12 shifts per month

- Patient Load:
- PICU Days: 5:1 (Mon-Fri), 7:1 (Weekends)
- PICU Nights: 10:1
- TCUP Days: 5-8:1
- TCUP Nights: 16:1
- Patient Population/Age: Pediatric
- Department Description:
- PICU: Provides high-level care for children needing continuous monitoring, including infants and children recovering from surgery or serious conditions. The unit has 20 beds and admits over 1,000 children per year via various transportation methods.
- TCUP: A 16-bed unit for infants and children with moderate to high complexity conditions. Provides care for patients recovering from solid organ transplantation, non-invasive mechanical ventilation, anticoagulant therapy, and post-operative specialty surgery care.
EMR System: EPIC
Hospital Bed Size: 16-20
Skills Required:
- PICU: Experience in high-acuity pediatric intensive care.
- TCUP: Experience in transitional care and managing complex pediatric cases.
Practice Setting: Hospital
Requirements:
- Board Certification:
- NP: Must be CPNP-AC (Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care)
- PA: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Medical Studies required
- License Required: California
- DEA Registration: Required
- Minimum Experience: 2 years of recent/relevant experience
Credentialing Timeframe: 60-90 days
