Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) – Outpatient General Neurosurgery

Banner – University Medicine Tucson is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Outpatient General Neurosurgery team. As part of Southern Arizona’s leading academic medical center, this position offers an exceptional opportunity to work alongside a team of experienced neurosurgeons in a collaborative and patient-centered environment. Our APPs are key partners in delivering high-quality care through clinic-based evaluations, ongoing management of neurosurgical patients, and coordination of care across the continuum.


Practice Setting:


  • Outpatient

Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform comprehensive assessments and follow-up visits for general neurosurgery patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Evaluate patients for surgical candidacy and assist with perioperative planning.
  • Provide patient education, including postoperative expectations and long-term care planning.
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, including primary care, therapy services, and specialists.
  • Support neurosurgeons with clinic procedures and documentation.
  • Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program with a focus on acute care
  • Current licensure as a PA or ACNP in the state of Arizona or eligible
  • DEA license, BLS, CPR, and ACLS certifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, academic environment

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in general neurosurgery, spine, or related outpatient surgical specialties.
  • Familiarity with EMR documentation and outpatient workflows.
  • Interest in academic medicine and opportunities for professional development
