Job Summary
Seeking a Full-time (4 day/week) pain APRN (not CRNA) to join a high
functioning pain management team at AVH and UCVH to help meet increase clinical demands
for services.
Provides office-based pain management services to new and established patients (adults),
including medication management, certification for medical cannabis, education/counseling,
monitoring of medication compliance via PDPM and urine drug screens, minor procedures, and
referral to CRNA colleagues for interventions (e.g., epidural steroid injections at various spinal
levels, radiofrequency ablation, facet blocks, SI injections, intercoastal blocks) or other services
(e.g., ketamine or lidocaine infusions).
Minor procedures may include trigger point injections, joint injections, occipital blocks, cold
ablation (Iovera), and Botox for headaches or chronic pain. May use ultrasound guidance for
selected procedures. (If candidate is not currently skilled/competent in such procedures, AVH
colleagues will precept/train over time. Likely would become fully oriented and comfortable
with office management of patients first, then devote time to learning procedures.)
May provide Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) with X waiver. (Such service is not required.)
Infrequently provides consultation for inpatients and ED patients (in rotation with team
members).
EMR: Meditech Expanse
Appointment durations would begin at 1 hour to allow for orientation to AVH and its EMR. At an
appropriate time, appointment durations would be reduced to match standards for
AVH pain providers, i.e., 30 minutes for established patients, 60 minutes for new patients, 20
minutes for procedures.
Typical productivity (based on usual mix of new and established patients, procedures, etc.) will
be 12 to 20 patients per day.
Administrative time is not provided.
In addition to Annual Base Salary, the Practitioner shall be eligible to receive additional
compensation for high levels of clinical productivity as measured by wRVU for professional
services personally performed by the Practitioner, such as evaluation and management (E&M)
services for office visits and consultations and the performance of procedures.
The threshold above which a wRVU Productivity Bonus shall be provided to the Practitioner shall
be 1,560 wRVU in each Fiscal Year (October 1 to September 30).
For each wRVU performed in a Fiscal Year above the threshold, AVH shall compensate the
Practitioner $50.00 per wRVU. For example, if the Practitioner generates xxx wRVU in a Fiscal
Year, the Practitioner will have exceeded the threshold by 300x wRVU. The Practitioner would
then receive a productivity bonus of $15,000 (or 300 wRVU x $50.00/wRVU.)
In recognition of the value of conducting an outreach clinic any approved outreach site, AVH
shall reduce the annual wRVU threshold by a percentage of the Practitioner’s total clinical hours,
providing 1 hour of travel time credit per outreach clinic (2 hours for UCVH). For example, if the
Practitioner conducted 4 outreach clinics per month to UCVH, an average month would include
8 hours of outreach clinic travel credit. Therefore, the Practitioner’s outreach travel credit
would be for 8 of 128 clinical hours per month or 6.25%. Accordingly, the Practitioner’s
annual wRVU threshold would decrease from 1,560 to 1,463.
Within 45 days following the completion of each Fiscal Year, AVH shall determine the amount, if
any, due to the Practitioner as a Productivity Bonus and shall notify the Practitioner in writing of
such amount.
Within 75 days following the completion of each Fiscal Year, AVH shall pay such Productivity
Bonus amount due, if any, to the Practitioner in accordance with its payroll policies.
Commencement Bonus $15,000
Paid on first pay date following hire (up to 17 days).
Not a signing bonus
