JOB SUMMARY
The Surgical Physician Assistant or Surgical Nurse Practitioner is a skilled member of the allied health care team who is qualified both academically and clinically to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Surgical Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner works within a cooperative unit, utilizing team effort with health care providers, co-workers, and the public to provide positive patient interaction.
In this role, you will join a group of nine NPs & PAs who support a thirteen surgical orthopedic physicians. You will rotate between assisting in the OR, Clinic and Inpatient rounding duties. Call is 1:9.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred/Optional: One year in specialty.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required:
- Certification from the National Commission on Certifications of Physician Assistants/ Nurse Practitioner
- Must be eligible to obtain or already hold a current State of Wisconsin Physician Assistant licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
- Additional department-specific certifications, licenses, or memberships may be required (varies by department/location).
- Affiliated staff privileges at associated hospital may be required (varies by department/location).
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
