The Gynecology Nurse Practitioner Clinical Educator is responsible for training healthcare providers in performing pelvic exams and other gynecological procedures, ensuring adherence to evidence-based care. This role does not include obstetrics but focuses solely on gynecology. The individual will serve as the expert in gynecological best practices, providing hands-on training, clinical oversight, and guidance to maintain the highest standard of patient care.

This role involves hands-on instruction, competency assessments, and ongoing mentorship, serving as the primary resource for clinical expertise. The educator will shadow providers to evaluate technique, provide direct feedback, and standardize best practices across Student Health Services. Additionally, they will collaborate with leadership to enhance quality improvement initiatives, develop provider resources, and support integrated patient care. Candidates should have advanced clinical training in gynecology, extensive experience in procedural education, and strong communication and leadership skills. This position is crucial in maintaining high-quality gynecological care by ensuring providers are well-trained, competent, and aligned with best practices.

The ideal candidate has a track record of innovative problem-solving, culturally competent care, and effective leadership in a student health or outpatient gynecology setting. They should possess the ability to engage and mentor staff, communicate empathetically, and cultivate a clinical environment that prioritizes excellence, mutual respect, and trust.

Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and New York State electronic prescribing protocols is essential. Additionally, the Gynecology NP Clinical Educator will participate in health education, community outreach, and university-wide wellness initiatives, supporting the broad health needs of students.

Job Responsibilities

60% Clinical Training & Education:
• Develop and implement structured training programs for healthcare providers on pelvic exams, gynecological screenings, and related procedures.
• Ensure all providers follow current, evidence-based guidelines and best practices.
• Conduct hands-on instruction, competency assessments, and refresher training sessions.
15% Clinical Oversight & Expertise:
• Shadow providers during gynecological exams to evaluate technique, patient-centered approach, and adherence to best practices.
• Serve as the primary resource and expert in gynecological procedural training.
• Provide direct feedback and mentorship to improve provider competency and confidence.
15% Quality Assurance & Best Practices:
• Stay updated on the latest gynecological care standards and integrate them into training protocols.
• Ensure consistency in patient care by standardizing clinical practices across all providers.
• Work collaboratively with leadership to implement quality improvement initiatives.
• Partner with medical staff, university leadership, and healthcare providers to align training efforts with institutional needs.
• Assist in developing provider resources and patient education materials.
• Participate in case discussions and offer expert recommendations as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
• Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing (MSN/DNP) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC)
• Extensive experience performing and training others in gynecological procedures, including pelvic
exams, gynecological screenings, and evidence-based care practices.
• Training and experience in performing pelvic exams, Pap smears, and STI screening/treatment.
• Experience with preventive care, contraception counseling, and reproductive health services.
• Strong background in clinical education, mentorship, and procedural training.
• Experience in clinical supervision and provider training.
• Recent experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and telemedicine.
• DEA License (if required for practice).
• CPR/BLS certification.
