The stroke team has 4 physicians – 2 of which are neurointerventionalists who specialize in intracranial clot removal in emergent large vessel occlusion strokes. We are recruiting a team of four (4) inpatient APPs who will work alongside the physicians to run the Stroke Service, to include, but not be limited to:
- Treating ICU and surgical patients, attending emergent Stroke codes and floor patients.
- This role is responsible for responding to the stroke codes during daytime hours to help provide emergent care for suspected stroke patients.
- APPs are trained to read neuro imaging including CT’s, MRI’s, interpret necessary lab works.
- Initial training period the schedule will be five 8-hour shifts then will transition to four 10-hour shifts.
Qualifications:
Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances
PA:
- A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required
- BS or MS candidate is preferred
- Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred
- Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required
- Current CPR certification is required
- Act 34 Clearance required
CRNP:
- The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required
- BSN, MSN is preferred
- Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred
- Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required
- National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing
- Current CPR certification is required
- Act 34 Clearance required
