Department of Neurology
Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Join the caring and dynamic neurology team working to better the lives of Mid-Missourians.
The School of Medicine and the Department of Neurology are recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant-Specialty Care in several different settings. These positions serve as clinical support staff for the MU Department of Neurology & Sleep Disorders Clinic.

- Currently 2 other NP/PA’s work in an outpatient capacity

- Work independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to provide care to neurological patients in an outpatient setting.
- Communicate with physicians about changes in patients’ clinical conditions, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes of conditions.
- Perform treatments and interventions; conduct teaching and counseling of patients and families; and facilitate clinical research.
- Requires basic computer skills, problem solving, willingness to learn new skills and methods, and ability to perform duties in a variety of work settings.
Nurse Practitioner:
- Master of Science in Nursing degree.
- Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
- Must be granted a “Document of Recognition” from the Missouri Board of Nursing.
- Physicians Assistant (PA) licensure by the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.

MU Department of Neurology offers comprehensive and multidisciplinary care in areas such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, comprehensive cerebrovascular disease, neurological intensive critical care, and headache. In addition, we have expertise in various subspecialty areas, including pediatric neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuropathology, neuro-rehab, and multiple sclerosis.
