  • General Information:
      • Baptist South: 40 Beds
      • Baptist East: 25 Beds
    • Minimum Years of Experience:
      • At least 2 years of RN experience in a Level 3 or 4 NICU.
      • 2 years practicing as an NNP.
    • First-time traveler:
      • Dependent on experience; candidates with more than 2 years of NNP experience may be considered.
  • Certifications:
    • MSN-NNP certification through National Certification Corporation (NCC), BLS, NRP
  • Credentialing:
    • Able to obtain emergency temporary credentials until the committee meets (1st Monday of every month).
  • Support on the Unit:
  • NPs on Staff: 8 total

o South: 1 NP on a 24-hour shift

o East: 1 NP on a 24-hour shift

  • Call Rooms: Available at both locations
  • Technology/Equipment:
    • EMR: Cerner (required)
    • IV Pumps: Abbott Plum Pumps, Medfusion Syringe Pumps
    • Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
    • Monitors: SpaceLabs
  • Floating: If yes, where? Yes
    • Between Campuses:
      • Baptist South and Baptist East
      • Pre-scheduled
    • Higher NICU volumes expected at Baptist East
    • New unit opening in June 2025
  • Orientation:
    • NEO + 2 shifts with a preceptor
  • Other notes:
    • Scrub Color: Hospital scrubs provided
    • Parking: Free and on site

Job Responsibilities

Patient Types:
Neonates from 23 weeks to full term, prematurity, Respiratory distress syndrome, Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn, Pneumothorax, Failure to thrive, hyperbilirubinemia and other conditions affecting the newborn.
Provider Support:
Oversees all patients in the unit alongside the team lead.
Team lead and provider are present for 8 hours during the day.
Rounding occurs during the day; the provider leaves at 5 PM.
NNP is independent overnight but can call the provider back if needed.

Qualifications

Required Skills:
Perform Physical examinations and record pertinent data appropriately
Hospital rounds and record appropriate progress note
Hospital admission and discharge at the direction of supervising physician
Interpret and evaluation patient data to determine management and treatment
Must have experience with:
Intubation
Umbilical line placement
Chest tube placement
Neonatal thoracentesis

Working Hours

Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
On call? None
Holiday Expectations: 1-2 holidays per contract
Approval of time off? CNO
Shift times: 24-hour shifts, averaging 2 shifts per week (10 shifts per 6-week schedule cycle).
Schedule cycle: 6 weeks
