Job Description
Penn State Health is seeking experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs) for a long-term locum tenens assignment at their Children’s Hospital in Hershey, PA. This role focuses on nights and weekends with occasional weekday day shifts, offering an exciting opportunity to work in a high-acuity neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Providers must meet licensing and procedural requirements and be able to complete required air and ground transport training.
Key Details
- Position: Locum Tenens Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: Ongoing (1+ year commitment required)
- Shifts:
- Weekday Nights: 4 PM–8 AM
- Weekends: 12-hour shifts (7 AM–7 PM and 7 PM–7 AM)
- Occasional Weekday Days: 7 AM–5 PM
- Transport Training: Required for air and ground transport (45-hour in-person training + online course)

Job Responsibilities
Respond to night and weekend clinical needs in both inpatient and transport settings
Participate in air and ground transport for neonatal patients following required training
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care
Qualifications
Clean malpractice history and prior vendor credentialing preferred
Must commit to a 1+ year assignment for night and weekend coverage
Ability to complete transport training (nonnegotiable requirement)

Chest tubes
Lumbar punctures
Intubations
Working Hours
Weekends: 7 AM–7 PM and 7 PM–7 AM (12-hour shifts)

Skills
Ability to handle high-acuity NICU cases independently
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
