Competent at umbilical line placement, central line placement/Peripherally inserted central lines, arterial line placement, intubation, newborn resuscitation, lumbar puncture, and chest tube placement.
This is a delivery hospital. They need someone who is confident/competent with newborn resuscitation and stabilization for high-risk deliveries. This is an expectation for all gestational ages. For the younger gestational ages, the APP would have support from other team members including the neonatologist and respiratory therapy.
This is large academic medical center…..not a critical access hospital where deliveries are rare. This is an expected competency and we need to ensure the NNP is comfortable acting in this role
