We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join a Level 4 NICU team at a large academic medical center in Illinois. This role involves managing and stabilizing high-risk neonates in the delivery room and NICU. The provider will work with a collaborative team of neonatologists, fellows, residents, and respiratory therapists in a 60-65 bed NICU.

This position requires night, 24-hour, and weekend shifts, with an estimated 10 shifts per month. The ideal candidate will have experience with neonatal critical care and competency in delivery room resuscitation and stabilization for all gestational ages.

Job Responsibilities

Provide care for critically ill neonates in a Level 4 NICU setting.
Manage a team of 15-20 neonatal patients during a 12-hour shift.
Attend high-risk deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization.
Perform advanced neonatal procedures, including:
Umbilical line placement
Central line/PICC placement
Arterial line placement
Intubation
Newborn resuscitation
Lumbar punctures
Chest tube placement
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including neonatologists, fellows, residents, and respiratory therapists.
Provide step-down care as needed.
Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR.

Qualifications

Credential: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NP).
Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible.
Licensure: Active Illinois state license required.
Certifications: PALS certification required.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a Level 4 NICU or equivalent neonatal care setting.
DEA license required.
CSR License required.

Working Hours

Shift Schedule: Night, 24-hour, and weekend shifts; 10 shifts/month.

Proficiency in neonatal resuscitation and stabilization for all gestational ages.
Competence in performing advanced neonatal procedures.
Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
