  • JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Round daily on all well babies
  • Round daily on infants as needed
  • Provide consultation to ED
  • Document using Cerner EMR
  • Day shift is from 7AM through 5PM
  • The night shift begins at 5PM and ends 7AM the following day
  • Call is from home
  • Expected time rounding is approximately 6 to 7hrs
  • Expect to be called in for a delivery once every other or 3rd night on call though this is variable
  • Typically, 35 weeks with the neonatologists
  • Must be available with 30 minutes
  • High risk deliveries include but are not limited to: meconium stained amniotic fluid, macrosomia, breech presentation, fetal Intolerance of labor
  • 2 WELLBABY SERVICE
  • Avg daily census of 11
  • Hospitalist round on each patient daily
  • Perform a comprehensive H&P on new infants and discharge exams on infants to be discharged
  • Occasional circumcision required
  • Typical time to round is 6 hrs
  • 3 PEDIATRIC SERVICE
  • Infant patients
  • Most readmitted for things such as hyperbilirubinemia, and weight gain issues
  • Infants requiring subspecialty care typically referred to UCSF Benioff Childrens in Oakland
  • Pediatric cardiology and genetics consultation are available on site
  • Admissions average less than 1 per month
  • ER CONSULTATION SERVICE:
  • From time to time ED Physicians will call the Pediatric Hospitalist to solicit advice
  • May include questions regarding differential diagnosis, lab tests to consider or advice regarding formulating a plan for outpatient management until the patient has their f/u appointment with their PCP
  • ED physician may seek advice about the appropriateness of inpatient admission or if a higher level of care is needed elsewhere.
  • Onsite consultation may be required
  • COMMUNITY:
  • Located in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Commutable form Sacramento or San Francisco
  • Easily accessible to major highways such as I80 and I680
  • Convenient proximity to the Napa Valley wine region as well
  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • NRP course completion and facility in all NRP procedures (including intubation and UVC placement)
