Job Description
The Jefferson College of Nursing is seeking interested faculty to join our team as we advance our master’s and doctoral curriculum. The College also offers post-BSN to DNP programs in a variety of focus areas including community systems administration, nursing informatics, and nurse practitioner tracks. The Jefferson College of Nursing at Thomas Jefferson University is accepting applications for full-time employed faculty for the College of Nursing Adult Gerontology-Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program.
Interested applicants must possess visionary, creative leadership skills to provide implementation of nursing curriculum within the graduate program. Responsibilities include: collaborating with nurse practitioner faculty for course planning/projections, identifying needed resources, and overseeing selection of clinical preceptors and clinical sites, and student clinical placement and progression. Faculty members collaborate with Chair of Programs, Associate Deans, Dean, and support services to achieve program outcomes.
As a faculty member, the applicant must have enthusiasm for teaching future advanced practice nurses in the classroom, clinical skills and online environment. Faculty members serve as advisors and mentor for students and participate in college meetings and committees. Current practice, scholarship and service to the community are desired. Strong communication and relationship building skills are essential.
The primary role of this position is to ensure academic integrity in areas of planning, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum and learning experiences of students in classroom, laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings.
The position participates in advising students, curriculum development, program evaluation, teaching in the classroom, evaluation of student achievement in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the College and University.
This position:
• Utilizes contemporary and innovative teaching methodologies in classroom,
laboratory/simulation, and clinical settings
• Serves on College committee(s) as assigned
• Participates in College and University activities throughout the year
• Demonstrates evidence of ongoing clinical competency
• Participates in professional activities related to area of clinical expertise
• Participates in scholarly activities, apart from personal academic pursuits
• Participates in recruitment activities of the College and University
• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the
Enterprise
• Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) required, Adult Gerontology-Acute Care Nurse
Practitioner
• Doctoral degree preferred. Master’s degree in nursing or related discipline from an accredited college
or university required. Candidates without doctoral degrees must be enrolled in a doctoral program.
• Eligible/current for licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
• Previous teaching experience preferred
• Knowledge and skills related to innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development,
evaluation, and supporting students in their journey to become advanced practice nurses or
willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills
This is a salaried position with a generous benefit and retirement program. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience.
