Job Description

Last Update: 12/03/24

To prospective teammates,

I am the Director of Critical Care Advanced Practice Providers for Sound Critical Care in the Richmond area. I am proud to lead our team of Critical Care Advanced Practice Providers in the greater Richmond area which now includes our newest partner hospital, Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA. This will be our fourth Bon Secours partner hospital in the area, and we are looking to add experienced critical care advanced practice providers (APPs) to our growing team.

I want to share more about who we are and what we do — specifically about our people, practice, and purpose — as you consider your options:

People
  • We are building a team of 5 board-certified critical care physicians and 3 experienced critical care APPs at Southside Regional Medical Center.
  • Within our partner hospitals, we work closely with our colleagues from various departments and disciplines to ensure that the highest level of care is provided to our patients.
  • Petersburg is a growing community located just 30 minutes south of Richmond offering rich history, and easy access to Washington, DC, the gorgeous beaches of Virginia, and Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, all within a few hours.
  • Petersburg is part of the Tri-Cities area and offers the convenience of suburban living with the beauty and respite of a recreational oasis.
Practice
  • Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center is a 300-bed hospital and is part of the larger Bon Secours Health System which serves communities in 6 states.
  • Southside Regional Medical Center is designed as a level III trauma center and primary stroke center with a full complement of medical subspecialties.
  • The hospital boasts 28 ICU beds; 14 MICU and 14 CVICU.
  • We’re looking for experienced, board-certified critical care APPs who are skilled at arterial and central lines, hemodialysis, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertion, intubation, endoscopy, EKG, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, stress test, and vent management.
  • Our APPs practice at the top of their licenses and enjoy a high level of autonomy in their practice.
  • Our retention rate is high, our APP team is well respected and we work collaboratively within our team to ensure coverage for time off.
  • We work in EPIC with access to our internal informatics platform.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • We value and support growth and development in our critical care medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
