People First in Gaylord

Local Team Collaboration:

  • We are seeking a nocturnist nurse practitioner to join our closely-knit, established team of three physicians and four advanced practice providers at Otsego Hospital.
  • We are significantly involved in hospital committees and process improvement initiatives within the hospital. Our hospital partners highly value our input.
  • Otsego will transition from a community hospital to a larger regional hospital over three years.
  • For those who like to teach, we work with PA students from Central Michigan University.
  • Team meetings are held monthly.
  • We have a robust case management/discharge planning department with which we work closely daily.

Qualifications:

  • Board-certified/eligible nurse practitioners.
Practice in the Heart of the Community

Scheduling:

  • This nocturnist nurse practitioner role has no call responsibilities.
  • We staff one physician and one APP per day shift (7a-7p) and an APP on nights (7p-7a).

Key Responsibilities:

  • We care for inpatients at this 46-bed community hospital with a five-bed open ICU.
  • During the day (7a-7p), one physician and one APP work autonomously. The last admissions are taken at 6 PM.
  • During the evening, we have one nocturnist APP providing coverage.
  • Our nocturnist APP or the ED physician does ICU procedures during the evening.
  • As subspecialty support is limited, we often facilitate patient transfers to our regional medical center for a higher level of care.
