Job Description

Last Update: 6/18/24

To prospective teammates,

I am the medical director for Sound’s hospital medicine practice at Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington, Washington. I have proudly been a part of Sound for over ten years and welcome interest from advanced practice providers (APPs) coming out of training or desiring a career change. I want to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider your next steps:

People
  • Join our established team of four physicians and two advanced practice providers (APPS).
  • Our team is a rich tapestry of clinicians from diverse geographic, educational, and training backgrounds who lean on and learn from each other in their approach to patient care.
  • Embrace the opportunity to actively engage in committee work at the hospital, as we highly encourage participation and collaboration in these initiatives.
Practice
  • We are a small acute care hospital with minimal onsite support; however, we have access to the larger Skagit Regional Health team of specialists. We are between two larger hospitals, Skagit Valley Hospital, our sister hospital, to the north, and Providence Medical Center Everett, to the south. We have a six-bed ICU.
  • The role of the APP within our team is as a day-rounder. Our APPs do not work in the ICU but see varying cases outside of the ICU. A typical patient load is between 9 and 15 patients.
  • We meet monthly as a team for essential updates and training. All attend our meetings.
  • Valuing time with our families and the outdoors, we offer a flexible schedule and mutual coverage for absences among our team members.
  • The expected yearly salary based on 175 shifts is $170,000
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • Growth and development are key features of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.

Arlington is a beautiful town where you can drive down the main street and never hit a stoplight. It is a fast-growing and flourishing community. There are multiple festivals throughout the year, from the Festival of the River during the summer to the Hometown Holidays in the winter. If you like the outdoors, Arlington is 30 minutes to great mountain adventures, hiking, fishing, camping, mountain bike trails, or in the opposite direction, 20 minutes to the ocean for sea kayaking, fishing, sailing, or whatever watersport you prefer. Rivers and streams are abundant in the area for fishing.
