Job Description
We are looking for an experienced ONCOLOGY Nurse Practitioner to join a growing oncology department in our multi-specialty practice group.
Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Must be licensed RN/APN in the state of New Jersey.
• Provides advanced oncologic nursing assessment and documentation; including history and
physical for complex hematology/oncology adult patients in the outpatient setting.
• In-patient hospital rounding as per provided schedule; including assessments, appropriate
supportive care, blood components, fluid and electrolyte replacements, and all other oncology
treatment modalities as prescribed. In-patient rounding schedule is inclusive of weekends and
holidays.
• Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic treatments and non-pharmacologic modalities.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's disease-specific
needs.
• Monitors the effectiveness of interventions prescribed.
• Facilitates the patient's transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting,
transferring, and discharging.
• Provides education to patients, families, and significant others.
• Acts as an information resource to students, health care professionals, patients, and the public.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
• May participate in research and related activities.
• Work closely with physicians in management of oncologic patient case load.
• On call coverage of hematology/oncology practice.
Minimum qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
• Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
• Current Nurse Practitioner certification in Oncology
• Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Eligible for hospital privileges with Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in the Nurse Practitioner role
preferred.
