Job Summary
Job Description
To prospective teammates,
I am the medical director for the Sound Physicians hospitalist practice at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York. I have proudly been a part of Sound for five years and welcome interest from nurse practitioners and physician assistants coming out of training or desiring a career change. I want to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider your next steps:
People
- We are a closely knit, established team of physicians and advanced practice providers, with the support of a clinical performance nurse.
- Our team comprises clinicians from diverse geographic, educational, and training backgrounds who are supportive and collaborative with other staff and departments.
- We have a great relationship with our medical staff office; they are very efficient and helpful during the privileging process. We have multiple committees that our providers can lead or join.
Practice
- We welcome the challenge of complex cases, working in a semi-open ICU with intensivist coverage during the day and E-ICU coverage at night. Our team is not expected to do procedures or run codes. We also have a closed ICU. However, our team is responsible for all the rapid response coverage for the entire hospital. Our critical care team is responsible for all codes.
- Most of us like to spend time with our families or outdoors, so a flexible schedule is available, and we cover for each other when we’re out. We all have a common goal and help each other by switching shifts with colleagues if someone needs a day off on their scheduled work week.
- Expected annual compensation for this position is $130-148K.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- A focus on growth and development is a key feature of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
- We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
