Geisinger's Cancer Institute is seeking an experienced or newly graduated Advanced Practitioner to join the Palliative Medicine team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) in Wilkes-Barre, PA.Job Duties
This individual will perform, under the responsibility and supervision of the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. Assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. Act as a patient advocate in the medical care system serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between the patient and physician.
- Answers and returns phone calls from established patients and their families and assess the needs of patient and family.
- Discusses plan with the physician and relays information to the family and patient.
- Obtains or assists in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
- Both inpatient and outpatient clinic settings
- Schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00a-5:00p with the possibility of weekend coverage required
