We are seeking a compassionate Per Diem Nurse Practitioner to join our Hospice Team in Bloomington, IN!

IU Health palliative care is focused on improving quality of life while dealing with a serious illness and providing personalized care that is focused on the patient, not just their disease, supporting care goals through pain and symptom management, spiritual and psychosocial counseling and assistance in advance care planning. We aim to support the patient and their loved ones.

Position Details:

  • Supplemental, Per Diem
    • Primarily day shift / weekend support
  • Patient volume - approximately 8/day.
  • 90% Inpatient / 10% outpatient
  • Practice at the Bloomington Hospice House with 1 physician and 1 other APP
    • Unique opportunity at a 12-bed Hospice Inpatient Unit

Key Responsibilities:

  • End of life care, medication management, and symptom control.
  • Complete COTI, face to face documentation, place orders for hospice medications/care.
  • Round with inpatient Hospice team and families/patients.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold either AGNP, FNP or PMHNP certifications
  • APP Experience in Palliative, Gerontology, or Hospice Care highly preferred
  • Open to new graduates
    • If new graduate, RN experience in Hospice/Palliative Care is required

Hospital Overview

The new IU Health Bloomington Hospital and Regional Academic Health Center opened in December 2021. The facility offers a personalized approach to inpatient services (including intensive care, complex surgeries and comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology services), outpatient services with leading-edge diagnostic testing, flexible space in the emergency department for post-care observation, a dedicated trauma center and a cancer infusion center.

At the same time, the facility strengthens healthcare education by providing space for collaboration and coordination of care and teaching. Students and trainees frequently come to the hospital side of the facility for clinical experiences.
