Position Summary:
The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner is part of the multidisciplinary team, overseeing and managing acute patients and works closely with hospitalists, emergency physicians, subspecialists and support staff. Care will include performing history and physical examinations, developing a differential and working diagnosis, ordering laboratory and diagnostic studies and images, performing procedures within scope of practice, developing and ordering treatment plans; providing patient and family education, ordering of medications, and referring patients for specialty consultations as indicated. Incumbents in this class work independently under the general direction of a physician pursuant to state statute.
Education/Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and two (2) years of related clinical nursing experience.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid State of Nevada License to Practice as a Registered Nurse, and; State of Nevada License to Practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse, and; State of Nevada Pharmacy Board License to Prescribe Medications, and; DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate, and; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA). Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements:
2 years of experience as a transplant Nurse Practitioner in pre and post op.
Qualifications
