Make a Difference in Hepatology Care – Join Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital’s Growing Team!
Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) to join our highly respected Hepatology team in Richmond, VA. As an APC in this role, you will have the opportunity to manage both inpatient and outpatient Hepatology care, perform Fibroscan procedures, and engage in cutting-edge liver disease research through clinical trials. You will also be involved in managing an active patient panel, including taking over an established group of patients and responding to an ongoing referral work queue.
Position Highlights:
- Provide direct care to Hepatology outpatients and inpatients, ensuring the highest quality of care for patients with liver disease.
- Perform Fibroscan procedures, a key diagnostic tool in the assessment of liver conditions.
- Serve as a sub-investigator on clinical trials, playing a vital role in advancing new treatments for liver disease.
- Manage an existing patient panel, ensuring continuity of care for individuals with liver disease.
- Respond to a referral work queue, including faxed requests, patient calls, and referring physician office calls, ensuring timely patient access and management.
- Rotate for call duties to provide after-hours support to both hospital and outpatient settings.
2024 Stats:
- Patient Panel: 1,186
- Total Encounters: 2,100 (New: 250 | Follow-up: 1,290 | Fibroscans: 560)
- Appointments scheduled for 2025: 335 (and growing)
- Average Patients per Day: 13, including outpatient visits, inpatient care, Fibroscans, and research visits.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: Standard clinic hours, with after-hours calls from the hospital and outpatient settings.
- Saturday and Sunday: Independent rounding at the hospital, along with after-hours calls as needed.

Qualifications:
- Advanced Practice Clinician (NP or PA) with specialized training or experience in Hepatology or a related field.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for patient care.
- Experience with or an interest in clinical research is a plus.
