We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Nurse Practitioner to join our High-Risk Genetics Clinic. The NP will provide specialized care to patients with hereditary cancer syndromes, conduct risk assessments, and develop personalized care plans. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive genetic counseling and support services.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Compassion. Nurses must be able to communicate information clearly and compassionately to patients who may be in pain or who are fearful and anxious.
  • Provide patient education and counseling regarding their condition, treatment options, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to ongoing research projects within the department
  • Research. Whether diving into the latest literature on genetics or collecting data, genetic nurse practitioners enjoy keeping up with current science and adding to the knowledge base
  • Interpreting test results. Genetic nurse practitioners must interpret test results accurately to make the best recommendations for patients
  • Risk assessment. Genetic testing is all about evaluating a patient’s risk of disease. Nurse practitioners must be able to make accurate risk assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in California
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Primary Care.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.

Wage Scale: 150,000-180,000
