Job Overview – FNP or PA (Juvenile Detention Center):
Join our client as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) at a juvenile detention center in the Bronx, NY. This role involves delivering comprehensive medical care to adolescents in a secure setting, ensuring safety and adherence to clinical guidelines. You’ll perform patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide health education, playing a critical role in promoting the well-being of this population.

Compensation: $133,000/year
Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM


Responsibilities as the FNP or PA:
  • Adolescent Care: Provide medical care to detained adolescents, taking patient histories, performing physical and gynecological exams, and administering immunizations.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement treatment plans based on diagnostic data, prescribing medications and obtaining consents when needed.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Complete medical forms, court orders, and ACS-mandated paperwork while maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Collaboration: Work with physicians and specialists for consultations, referrals, and follow-up care.
  • Medication Management: Oversee medication distribution, ensure compliance with clinical protocols, and manage prescription refills.
  • Patient Education: Provide health promotion and counseling on preventive care, chronic diseases, parenting, and stress management.
Qualifications for the FNP or PA:
  • Licensure: Must be licensed and registered as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in New York State.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with pediatrics experience preferred or willingness to work with this population.
  • Skills: Proficient in Athena EMR system with strong organizational and communication abilities.
  • Attributes: Patient-focused, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality adolescent care in a secure setting.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish; experience in areas such as Acute Care, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, or Family Health.
