Our Client, State of North Carolina Corrections is currently looking to fill several Nurse Practitioner openings at facilities located in South Central and Eastern North Carolina. These are 20 week contracts with the ability to extend.

Job Summary: The Corrections Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare services to incarcerated individuals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality medical care, promoting wellness, managing chronic illnesses, addressing acute medical needs, and supporting mental health care within the correctional setting.

Job Responsibilities
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions and injuries.
Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients based on their unique medical needs.
Medication Management: Prescribe and administer medications, following protocols and guidelines for safe and appropriate medication use.
Monitor patients for potential side effects, drug interactions, and treatment efficacy.
Emergency and Urgent Care: Respond to medical emergencies and provide urgent medical care as needed.
Coordinate with healthcare and security teams during emergency situations.
Mental Health Support: Assess mental health conditions and provide appropriate interventions, referrals, or counseling as needed.
Collaborate with mental health professionals to address complex mental health issues.
Collaborative Practice: Establish and maintain collaborative practice agreements with supervising physicians and adhere to relevant regulations and guidelines.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care.
Health Education: Offer health education and disease prevention guidance to incarcerated individuals.
Conduct group education sessions on various health topics.
Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
Complete necessary documentation and reports in a timely and thorough manner.
Compliance and Regulations: Ensure compliance with state laws, regulations, and institutional policies related to healthcare provision within the correctional facility.

Qualifications
Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the relevant specialty
Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant: 2 years (Required)
Experience in primary care or relevant healthcare settings, preferably in corrections or a similar environment
Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and guidelines applicable to corrections healthcare
Working Hours
Between the Hours of 6am-6pm (Flexible start/stop)
No Weekends
No Call
No Nights
