Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Endocrinology
Location: Sacramento, CA
Salary Range: $210,000 - $240,000 + Signing Bonus + Full Benefits + Additional Bonus
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Endocrinology team. The NP will be responsible for managing a select group of patients, conducting physical assessments, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in endocrine management, particularly in treating diabetes and other hormone-related conditions. This role involves working closely with the Chief of the Endocrinology department and the Department Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Practice within the scope of NP responsibilities as defined by California’s Board of Registered Nursing and department protocols.
- Perform comprehensive, age-appropriate assessments including history-taking and physical examinations.
- Conduct ongoing evaluations focusing on patients' physiological, psychological, cultural, and spiritual needs, while also engaging in family education and advocacy.
- Consult with supervising physicians or clinicians as needed based on patient assessments.
- Collaborate with the department team to ensure effective, coordinated care that meets quality benchmarks for the Endocrinology service.
- Review and manage patient records, ensuring follow-up actions or diagnostic tests are in line with established protocols.
- Maintain strong communication with other healthcare providers and departments to ensure smooth operations and continuous patient care.
- Build and foster positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues while respecting cultural and ethical standards.
- Delegate and coordinate duties among healthcare team members and evaluate the quality of care provided.
- Demonstrate proficiency in safety protocols and emergency response, staying calm and efficient in critical situations.
- Maintain accountability for your professional practice, engage in ongoing learning, and participate in performance improvement and research activities as needed.
- Utilize technology effectively to document and communicate patient information.
- If working within a specialized area, fulfill the responsibilities specific to that specialty.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- At least 6 months of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
- 1 year of recent NP experience (within the last 3 years) in providing care for endocrine patients, with specialized training in Endocrinology.
- Completion of a Master’s Degree in Nursing (Adult NP, Family Practice NP, or Pediatric NP).
- For adults: Adult or Family NP certification required.
- For pediatric care: Family or Pediatric NP certification required.
- California Nurse Practitioner Certificate and Registered Nurse License.
- Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number (California).
- National NP Certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI) required at the time of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Familiarity with credentialing requirements for nurse practitioners, including National Certification from a recognized body (e.g., AANP, ANCC).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in managing Type 1 diabetes.
- Experience working with insulin pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems (CGMS) software.
- Familiarity with the latest insulin pump technology and management software.
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) strongly preferred.
