Palm Health Resources is hiring experienced Nurse Practitioners who specialize in Emergency Room!
Located in the heart of Southern California, in close proximity to stunning nature observatories, and a luxurious oasis with pristine golf courses, upscale resorts, and stunning desert landscapes!
This Emergency Room role will provide medical services as directed by his or her supervising physician and keeping with the accepted standards of medical practice and applicable Federal and State statutes and regulations.
  • The Nurse Practitioner shall maintain satisfactory Patient Satisfaction and Quality Scores.
  • The Nurse Practitioner shall comply with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA, 42 U.S.C. and 1395dd), and shall, to the extent required by EMTALA.
  • The Nurse Practitioner shall protect the privacy and provide for the security of protected health information (PHI) disclosed to them in compliance with all applicable State laws and the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, Public Law 104-191 (HIPAA), and the regulations promulgated thereunder by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (the HIPAA Regulations) and other applicable laws. Employee shall use appropriate safeguards to maintain and ensure the confidentiality, privacy and security of any PHI received, in accordance with the standards and requirements of HIPAA and the HIPAA Regulations and all policies and procedures of EMC and affiliated health facilities, including, without limitation, those that address compliance with HIPAA and the HIPAA Regulations.
  • The Nurse Practitioner is expected to communicate EMC business information through the EMC e-mail system whenever possible and to utilize the company e-mail system exclusively when communicating PHI or any other material to which the security requirements of HIPAA apply, and to follow standard rules of conduct for e-mail transactions.
  • Attends all Department Staff meetings unless on duty in the department or as otherwise excused by the Medical Director.
  • Participates in appropriate committees/projects as assigned by the Medical Director. Participates in appropriate department quality improvement and utilization review activities as directed by the QI Director and/or the Medical Director of the department.
  • Participates in EMC and the Emergency Department’s educational activities as required.
  • Assist the physician with the initial and ongoing assessment and management of patient’s medical, physical, and psychosocial status, including: history and complete physical examinations, development of treatment plan, patient rounds, recording of progress notes and discharge summaries across the lifespan of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Assist the physician by writing orders for medical treatments, including ordering of IV fluids and oxygen and ordering of diagnostic studies, laboratory radiologic studies, and cardiac studies.
  • Perform procedures including, not limited to airway adjuncts and airway management, ACLS and PALS, insertion of urinary catheters, I/O device, venipunctures, arterial puncture (ABG), IV insertion, insertion of peripheral lines, arthrocentesis, lumbar puncture, G-tube and PEG tube placement evaluation, perform EKG, pelvic exam for pregnancy related conditions, including first trimester miscarriage and evaluation of possible labor, evaluation of pregnant patients for non-pregnancy related conditions, pelvic exam for STD, PID, and pelvic pain evaluation not related to pregnancy, minor fracture reduction (closed), fracture and sprain immobilization techniques, spine immobilization device removal, joint reductions, dental blocks, digital blocks, local anesthesia, basic and advanced wound care, control external hemorrhage, suture repair lacerations, application of wound glue, incision and abscess drainage, burn care (partial thickness), nail trephination and removal, foreign body removal nose, ears, soft tissue, ear irrigation/cerumen disimpaction, anterior epistaxis management, slit lamp examination, and ocular tonometry.
  • Review diagnostic test results, including laboratory, radiology studies, and EKG report, and write follow-up orders for treatment and/or further diagnostic studies.
  • Evaluate and initiate emergency management in emergency situations, i.e. cardiac and/or respiratory arrest, respiratory distress, airway management, injury and trauma, severe burns, or hemorrhage.
  • Immediately consult with the primary supervising physician or back-up supervising physician or other specialist as clinically indicated.
  • Order and administer drugs and medications as licensed and authorized to do so by State laws and regulations and in accordance with the Federal Drug Enforcement and Administration Agency.
Assist the physician in providing patient education and counseling regarding health status, test results, disease processes, therapeutic measures, clinical interventions, and discharge planning.

Education Required: BSN/MSN degree
Licensure/Certification Required: California Nurse Practitioner license; American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
Preferred: Nurse Practitioner III with experience in Emergency Medicine or the equivalent
Experience Preferred: Experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Department.
