Department of Emergency Medicine
The School of Medicine is pleased to announce the Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants with 2+ years of experience in an urgent care, emergency department, or acute care setting to join their dynamic group.
The selected candidates will work primarily in urgent care or emergency medicine. For those candidates interested, opportunities to work in both are available. This role presents an exciting opportunity for candidates seeking room to grow in confidence, and procedural skills while enjoying an excellent work-life balance.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Work collaboratively with physicians and assist in a multidisciplinary practice for the treatment of emergency-related diagnoses.
- Perform essential patient care functions.
- Assist in the clinical processes of Emergency Medicine.
- Assist in the evaluation and management of emergency department patients.
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and demonstrate a high level of autonomy in the diagnosis and treatment of actual and potential health problems.
- Assists in the identification of trends related to patients and participates in quality improvement activities.
- Help guide the development and implementation of structure, process, and outcomes standards.
- Actively participate in clinical research as needed.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT SPECIALTY CARE - Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree required.
- Required Licensure or Certification:
- Graduation from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited physician assistant program.
- May possess a specialty certificate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry. Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant is required.
NURSE PRACTITIONER SPECIALTY CARE - Qualifications
- Master's degree is required.
- Required Licensure or Certification:
- Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- May possess a specialty certificate from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Pediatric Certification Nursing Board (PCNB), and the National Certification Corporation (NCC).
- For those interested specifically in urgent care opportunities, you must be able to treat patients of all ages.
- Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Missouri and must be granted a “Document of Recognition” as a certified nurse practitioner from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
