Job Title: Locum Tenens Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)

Job Location: Central Pennsylvania (Level 2 Trauma Center)

Job Description: A Level 2 Trauma Center in Central Pennsylvania is seeking a skilled PA or Acute Care NP with trauma surgery experience to provide in-house day, night, and weekend critical care coverage. The role includes a mix of day and night shifts with responsibilities for patient rounds, procedures, and trauma management. The ideal candidate must have experience in trauma surgery, be comfortable with procedures such as suturing, chest tubes, arterial lines, and central lines, and must be ATLS certified.

Shift Details:

  • Day Shifts: 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM (signout starts at 7:00 AM)
  • Night Shifts: 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM (signout starts at 7:00 PM)
  • On with other Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) during the day; on with in-house physician at night.
  • Trauma surgeon in-house 24/7 for support.

Available Shifts:

  • Day Shifts:
    • October 16, 17, 18
    • October 26, 27, 28
    • November 2, 3
    • December 6, 7, 8
    • December 13, 14, 15
    • December 18, 19
    • December 28, 29, 30
    • January 4, 5
  • Night Shifts:
    • November 4, 5, 6, 7
    • November 10-17 (consecutive nights)
    • November 22-24

Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-house critical care coverage during assigned shifts.
  • Perform basic trauma procedures, including suturing, chest tube insertion, arterial line, and central line placement.
  • Collaborate with trauma surgeons and other medical staff to manage critically ill patients.
  • Conduct patient rounds and manage trauma cases during your shift.
  • Ensure the timely stabilization and treatment of trauma patients.

Requirements:

  • Certified PA or Acute Care NP with prior trauma surgery experience.
  • ATLS certification is required.
  • Experience in performing chest tubes, arterial lines, central lines, and suturing.
  • Comfortable working in a high-acuity trauma environment.
