Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Manage 10-16 patients per day in an open ICU model, performing consults and providing critical care.
  • ICU Bed Capacity: Care for patients within an ICU consisting of 87 beds.
  • Support Staff:
    • Day Shift: Attending physician on staff.
    • Night Shift: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) on duty with a critical care fellow available 24/7. Additional attendings available to assist as needed.
    • Collaborative Care: Engage in a co-management model with surgical and neuro services.
  • Skills Required: Proficiency in central lines and arterial lines is required.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • In-house staff will assist with moderate sedation, intubation, and complex vent and sedation management.
    • Ability to recognize the need for intubation, though not required to perform it.
    • Responsible for managing codes within the unit in collaboration with the entire team.
    • Flexibility to float to other subspecialties (SICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, MICU) based on census; experience in multiple subspecialties is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification: Must hold ANCC or AACN certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • California State License
  • DEA Certification
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, ENLS (Emergency Neurological Life Support)
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Credentialing Timeframe: 60 – 90 days.
