An APRN is an advanced nursing professional who provides comprehensive healthcare services to patients across the lifespan. They assess, diagnose, and treat medical conditions, order and interpret diagnostic tests, develop treatment plans, and provide patient education.
Job Responsibilities
Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough health assessments to identify patient health needs and diagnose medical conditions as needed in the outpatient setting. This may involve physical exams, medical history review, and ordering diagnostic tests.
Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, which may include therapeutic interventions, lifestyle recommendations, and occasionally prescribing medications
Prescription Authority: In many states and countries, APRNs have prescriptive authority and can prescribe medications independently or in collaboration with physicians.
Patient Care: Provide direct patient care as well as care via telehealth, including monitoring patients' health status, managing chronic illnesses, performing stress tests, EKGs, CPET testing and evaluating treatment outcomes.
Health Promotion and Education: Educate patients and their families about health maintenance, disease prevention, and self-care practices. Complete medication reconciliation and ensure compliance with prescribed medications.
Qualifications
Prior experience as an APRN is required.
A previous work experience in Cardiology Required.
Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills, as well as proficiency in utilizing healthcare technology and electronic health records.
