Title: Polysomnographic Technician/Technologist
Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Regional Clinical Manager and the Medical Director or designee, the Certified Polysomnographic Technician/Technologist is responsible for performing adult and pediatric sleep studies. Technicians work under the guidance of a technologist, and responsibilities include patient care, technical procedures, and data management.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Explain sleep testing procedures to patients.
  • Apply recording and monitoring electrodes.
  • Identify and eliminate artifacts in polysomnographic data.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot equipment to ensure high-quality data.
  • Administer testing and therapies according to protocol and physician orders.
  • Train new hires and trainees per facility and accrediting agency standards.
  • Document patient interactions and study data according to policies.
  • Perform post-study administrative tasks, including equipment care and data management.
  • Comply with all infection control and safety regulations.
  • Communicate any mechanical or patient issues that may affect data integrity.
Qualifications and Certifications Required:
  • For Technologist: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification.
  • For Technician: Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) certification.
  • State licensure in Polysomnography (if required by the state).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Compliance with BRPT (Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists) credentialing and recertification requirements.
  • Proof of continuing education and licensure compliance is mandatory.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, and lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Visual acuity for viewing computer screens and monitors.
  • Work environment includes exposure to infectious agents in a quiet, dimly lit sleep center.
Schedule:
  • 10 or 12-hour night shifts starting between 7-9 pm and ending by 8 am.
  • Work is performed 7 days a week, with individual schedules provided in the employment agreement.
Pay: $26.00 - $40.00 per hour (36 - 48 hours per week)
