Job Description

Last Update: 11/17/24

To our prospective CRNA teammates,

I serve as the chief CRNA for Sound’s anesthesia program at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, in Port Arthur, Texas. I have been practicing anesthesia for sixteen years and have been a part of Sound’s family for two years. We’ve created a practice we’re proud of, and we are eager to welcome CRNAs who are launching their careers or seeking a change. Let’s take a moment to explore our people, practice, and purpose – the principles that guide us.

People
  • We are a close-knit group of 2 physicians and 9 dedicated CRNAs
  • We are a cohesive and empowered team, driven by a shared mission to genuinely support one another. Our unwavering commitment to mutual care and collaboration forms the heart of our collective strength.
  • I was attracted to Sound due to the multitude of opportunities it offers—clinically, personally, and in terms of leadership advancement potential.
  • Sound offers CRNAs the ability to truly practice to the top of their license in a collegial family-like team.
  • We sit about an hour and a half from Houston and 45 minutes from the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. The city of Port Arthur is known for its Cajun flavors, birding, fishing, and family fun.
Practice
  • Recently under new ownership, our hospital is a thriving community hospital, where we manage healthy OB/GYN, Ortho, Plastics, Peds ENT, GI/Endo.
  • We do not handle Cardiac or Thoracic cases, trauma, or high-acuity pediatrics.
  • We run 7 points of service daily that taper down as the day progresses.
  • Our daily work culture reflects a sense of camaraderie, much like collaborating with friends in a professional and collegiate environment.
  • We offer a LIFESTYLE practice with 8 weeks of scheduled time off.
  • Limited home call rotation split between the team. There will generally be one weekday call every 2.5 weeks and a weekend home call every ninth weekend. CRNA is not responsible for the main OR call. This is for OB only. With call shifts being paid separately from the base, there is an opportunity to trade/sell/pick up call as desired.
  • Compensation is guaranteed at an annual rate of $300,000, with call shifts paid separately: $600 for weekday calls and $2600 for weekend calls.
  • This is a 1099 compensation package with Sound paid malpractice insurance + tail coverage at no cost to you.
  • We are offering a generous commencement bonus for this position.
  • We maintain a high retention rate because we work collaboratively within our team and ensure coverage for time off.
Purpose
  • Our guiding principle is unwavering: we always put patients first.
  • We highly value supporting growth and development within our organization, providing opportunities for you to explore new avenues locally within the practice or in the broader medical group.
  • As a community-minded team, we actively encourage involvement and contributions to community health and wellness, both within and outside the hospital.
  • Our partner hospital is excited to collaborate with Sound and our clinicians to build a family within their facility. They look forward to a happy working environment within the anesthesia team to provide the best patient care for their community.

If you’d like to explore this opportunity further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my recruiting partner, who will connect us. I truly look forward to telling you why Sound Physicians Anesthesia is different from the rest.
