· Skills required: Provide anesthesia services that are vital to the safety and comfort of surgical patients of the organization. Participate in the training of student nurse anesthetists rotating through the department. Follow all operating room, department, and hospital rules and regulations.
o Perform all anesthetic techniques to include inhalation or intravenous anesthesia, endotracheal intubation, regional blocks such as epidural and spinal anesthesia, other regional blocks or a specific nerve to provide anesthesia.
o Insert central lines, perform arterial puncture and insert arterial lines.
o Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
o Document the events of all anesthetic procedures using the appropriate forms and methods.
o Evaluate and assist with pre and post-operative care procedures. 10%
o Participate in the preoperative evaluation of patients who are to undergo anesthesia.
o Participate in the postoperative evaluation of surgical patients, including the treatment of the patient in the recovery room and address anesthetic complications that may have occurred.
o Ensure availability of adequate nursing personnel and equipment necessary for post-anesthetic care.
o Follow policies/procedures/regulatory requirements and perform other work assignments. 10%
o Comply with all departmental and organizational policies and procedures in addition to regulatory requirements (such as OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.) and participate in corporate/departmental safety and quality activities.
o Perform other work assignments as required.
