Brenner Children’s Hospital houses one of the leading pediatric anesthesia and pain management programs in North Carolina. Working with our Pediatrics Anesthesia Team will provide opportunities to work alongside of every medical specialty within Brenner and involvement in a vast array of pediatric surgical procedures and disease management – from routine procedures to complex cardiac cases.

What You’ll Do:

As a valued member of our healthcare team, the CRNA will play a key role in team-focused patient care, providing anesthesia using safe and quality techniques during Pediatric Procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Potential for and encouraged to precept Student Nurse Anesthetists – opportunity to mentor and assess these medical students.
  2. Uses medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan to ensure peri-operative and anesthesia care, being sensitive to co-morbidities and age & developmental guidelines.
  3. Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team-based care; Uphold patient safety, drive quality improvement, and promote infection prevention within job responsibilities and initiatives.
  4. Document and maintain patient records in compliance with hospital standards, ensuring confidentiality.
  5. Maintain scheduling flexibility, readiness, and punctuality to deliver timely patient care.
  6. Exhibit professionalism through teamwork, collaboration, and a commitment to ongoing professional development
  7. Contribute to cost containment efforts by conserving resources.
  8. Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned.

The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

CRNA Requirements:

  • Graduation of an Accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program, Master’s Degree or Higher Required.
  • Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Board of Nursing + Currently Certified or Recertified to practice as a Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board
  • Current CPR Certification – ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical competency within the scope of granted privileges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse clinical teams.
