The incoming candidate will join the partnership of University Health and UT Health San Antonio in an exciting time in the development of pediatric services in the region. The candidate would join a mature pediatric heart team with a 30-year history in the region. Current supporting features are strong with an adult congenital program, outstanding anesthesia support, dedicated pediatric congenital heart unit (PCCU), dedicated pediatric cardiac critical care faculty, and exceptional nursing.


The program serves San Antonio and South and West Texas with a large catchment area of over 6 million people. Growth potential is very strong with the recent opening of the new University Health Women's and Children's Hospital, which has received strong positive response from the community. This new facility includes a brand new pediatric cath lab, outpatient heart center, 15 dedicated bed PCCU (with capacity to grow PCCU and PICU combined to 45 beds), in a total current capacity of 120 pediatric and 68 NICU licensed beds.

The ideal candidate would have experience in interventional cardiology and the desire to build and grow the cardiac cath program. Leadership opportunities are available for the right candidate and experience.

Cardiology faculty have appointments with Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine and are engaged in the training of medical students and 35 pediatric residents. This opportunity offers a competitive salary, comprehensive insurance package, and retirement benefits.
